Broken Picture Frame

Besides the open door

Lays a broken picture frame.

A thousand words shattered

As history is paused

With fragments of a photo

Fluttering on the winds of change-

Laying on the threshold of opportunity.

The past is done,

The future hangs in the balance.

We stand at a cross roads

As conversations go on

Like circles in the sand.

Voices on voices clammer

All wanting to be heard

On the state of this union.

The marriage is over

And no one is listening

As voices shout

About a broken picture frame.

This poem was written as a response to write something about #Brexit. I think that we are all missing the bigger image here. Whilst we will always have differences surely we are #strongerasonevoicewithmanyaccents.
